Marc spoke about his expedition to Antarctica

Marc Charney, an attorney with Nordman Cormany Hair & Compton, gave a very interesting presentation on his travels to Antarctica.  In February of this year, Marc traveled on a National Geographic boat with approximately 150 other guests to explore Antarctica.  The trip was called an expedition because things were so dependent on the weather that the crew did not know until the night before what activities would be appropriate for the following day.

Marc saw a variety of wildlife including penguins, seals, and birds.  The guests were told not to get any closer than 15 feet to the animals; however, if an animal chose to come closer to you, that was fine.

The temperature was generally in the low to mid 20s, although everyone had prepared for temperatures around zero.  Since they were doing hiking and other activities, Marc actually felt hot at times.  Approximately ten guests chose to experience the cold temperatures in the most extreme way by taking a polar plunge!

Marc shared a DVD of his trip which showed amazing landscapes, glaciers, and animals.  When guests on the trip were interviewed, one word kept being repeated, “Amazing!”

Thank you Marc for sharing your travels with our Club.
