Meeting May 11, 2017

It was a busy meeting with lots going on today.

 

President Husam asked RYLA participants, Andy McCombs and Omar Bawab, to speak about their RYLA experience. Both young men said they were very grateful for the opportunity to attend and said that they got a lot out of the experience. Omar was one of the students who was awarded a scholarship from RYLA at the graduation ceremony.

 

Rich Stewart led us in the Flag Salute.

Guests and visiting Rotarians: Visiting from Ventura-Downtown was Hutch. Former member and Past President Greg McCombs was here to see his son Andy get a Student of the Quarter Award. Carolyn Hertel and Cathryn Woodburn were Guests of the Club today and guest of Ashley Pope was Heather Baker.

 

Joe Strohman conducted the Student of the Quarter awards. Evan Portillo and Tyler Gutierrez were the recipients of these awards.

 

Joe Strohman led the ceremony to recognize the winners of the Ron Hertel 4 Way Test Essay Contest.

 

Todd Juvonen spoke about the Rotaract Pizza night and a Beach Clean-up being done by the Ventura Family YMCA.
