Midge Stork announced that the raffle prize today was a gift card to Bed Bath & Beyond generously donated by Bill Spellman.
 
Bill Gray brought two guests with him today, Steve Harbison & John Ellis. Visiting us from Ventura-Downtown was Norm Blanchard.
 
Joe Strohman conducted elections to the RCVE Foundation Board. The nominees were Bill Crookston, Jordan Eller & Vance Thompson. Club members were instructed to vote for two of the nominees.
 
The Foundation conducted their annual meeting last week and Ron Polito reported that the Morgan Stanley funds will not be available for scholarships this year. $25,000 will be used from the Schwab account for scholarships and some ideas were discussed about doing some internal fund raising to get additional scholarship funds.
 
Kathy McGee gave our Inspirational Message followed by Rafael Canton who gave our joke of the week.
 
Tom Swan passed around a sign up sheet for a Clean-up day at the City Center on March 19th from 8:00 - 3:00.
 
President's Announcements:
  • Michelle Cekov is leaving for Nicaragua for the next 2 weeks to follow up with the GoCare projects.
  • February 29th will be a joint meeting with Ventura-South.
  • There is a sign up sheet being passed to sign up to attend the YMCA Campaign Victory Dinner. We will be presenting the YMCA with a $6,000 check to fund Operation Splash.
  • Pete Gallagher was in the hospital for 5 days last week. Please give Pete a call and stop in for a visit if you can.
  • The Board has accepted the nomination of Harriet Clune to be PEN.
 
Rich Stewart and PEN Harriet Clune totaled up the votes for the RCVE Foundation Board election and Joe Strohman reported that Bill Crookston and Vance Thompson were both elected to 3 year terms beginning July 1, 2016. Congratulations to Bill and Vance.
 
Natalie Debbas reported that Interact is doing well. They are a small group, but MIGHTY! The big project continues to be working with the special ed kids twice a month. 
 
President Bruce asked Natalie if it would be possible to have some of the Interact members participate in the St Patrick's Day Parade on March 12th.

Tim Blackwell spoke about membership. Tim has been sending out emails to remind us to invite! It must be working because Bill Gray had 2 guests with him today!!!
