My Rotary Experience

I always knew that I wanted to be part of a service organization for many reasons.  Whenever talking with other professionals in the community about the different organizations that would provide an outlet for doing this, Rotary always appealed to me the most.  I was fortunate to meet Ken Kagan who graciously invited me to visit the Ventura East club as his guest.

Prior to attending I did some research on Rotary and really gave a lot of thought to whether or not I was ready to make the type of commitment necessary to be a value to the group.  I had for the most part decided that, yes I was ready and yes Rotary was the organization that I'd like to be a part of so the rest of my decision really just came down to what my experience would be like when I visited the club.  I was so impressed by the makeup of the Ventura East club and the commitment the members have made throughout their years.  Everyone was very warm and welcoming to me and during the meeting I was quickly able to learn about many of the programs the club facilitates in the community.  In addition to everyone being very welcoming I enjoyed the humor that seems to be the norm amongst many of the members.  It is the type of humor that is only shared amongst people who really know and care about each other. Additionally, it appealed to me that there were many avenues that I could participate and make contributions to based on my interest, time and skills.  So needless to say, the decision was made on that day that I wanted to be a part of this group and give back to the community that has given me the opportunity to be a service to them in my profession.

I believe that at the end of our lives we won't be thinking about the one sale that wasn't made, the case we didn't win, the deal we didn't close, but the impact we made on the lives of others that will really matter.  There is a reason I am so passionate about helping others and I will simply say that in my life due to certain circumstances, I have been a recipient of people wanting to reach out and help others.  Believe me when I say that it DOES make a difference.  So it is with great honor and happiness that I am now a member of the Ventura East Rotary club and I look forward to now be at a place in my life where I can make a difference.  Thank you again to Ken Kagan and everyone else in the club that has welcomed me.
