Dear Rotarians and Friends,
This week is our Third Thursday Social and we have chosen the Greek at  Ventura Harbor.  Please let Dawn Knowles know if you will be able to attend and whether you will be bringing a guest.  Thank you to Margarida Eidson for arranging these socials!

The St. Patrick’s Day fundraiser at Topa Topa Brewing is on!  March 17th from 1-6 p.m., 4880 Colt St in Ventura.   $25 tickets for Irish Stew and a Brew plus entertainment!.  Proceeds benefit the Walk For Kids and Ronald McDonald Family Room at VCMC.  Send the flier to all your friends and contacts!

We have a wonderful list of programs ahead, so please invite a guest to introduce to the Club.  This past week we had Connie Hood who has written several books and her most recent “Into Dark Corridors” will be made into a movie.  Thank you to Rich for introducing her to us.  Next week Sonny Horses 4 Kids will speak to us about their equestrian therapy program.  I know they have been doing amazing work with the Ventura County Autism Society.  Which reminds me, I would really like to have a RCVE team at the Aut2Run event on April 28th.  That is a Sunday and you can sign up to be on Gavin’s Team at Aut2Run.org.

On March 23rd a YES, Youth Empowerment Summit, is being held at Rancho Campana High School in Camarillo. They need counselors, so let me know if you would like to volunteer.  This is an awesome opportunity to be a part of a team building, leadership training, life changing Rotary event. RYLA is a three day Youth Empowerment Summit held in Ojai in April for the entire district.  YES is a one day model that has been developed to be conducted locally.  In my opinion, this is one of the most effective ways Rotary can impact the future of our youth and promote peace.

Notice the flier for the Wine, Beer and Food Festival we are partnering with the Girl Scouts for on June 8th.  We are looking for sponsors,  both $  and food and beverages for tasting.  See Cal for information to be certified for alcohol serving.  It will come in handy for most of our events.

The Calendar:
Feb 15 – Social:  the Greek at the Ventura Harbor, 5:30
Feb 22 – Sonny Horses 4 Kids, equestrian therapy
Feb 29 – Christine Cardona-Threadgill – Friends of Fieldworkers
Mar 7 – YES Program with Mary Lingua

In recognition that this is an election year and that there is divisiveness in our country and the world,  I remind you that Rotary is a neutral zone.  Thank you for respecting and enjoying the a-political aspect of our organization.

See you on Thursday.
