Dear Rotarians and Friends,
Thank you to all who came out to make the Topa Topa St. Patrick’s Day Party to benefit the Ronald McDonald Family Room at VCMC a success!!  Deep appreciation to Bruce McGee for being the Master Coordinator of this event.  And a HUGE thank you to our caterer Stacy Tipton who donated the Irish Stew and the crew to serve all afternoon.

Our third Thursday Social is this week at Yolanda’s Mexican Restaurant, 2753 E. Main street at 5:30 p.m. Send an email to Dawn to sign up.

Last week we heard from Laura Libbey about how she and her husband Russell connect law enforcement and children and families using their amazing  horse named Sonny. Dialed in with many agencies to help heal trauma, create dialogue with special needs kids, strengthen relationships in the community, Sonny Horses 4 Kids is creating hope in the world.

Cameron DeJong’s Football (soccer) Showcase at Buena High is on Saturday, March 30th.  Last week our Club presented a $500 check for sponsorship.  He is still looking for a few volunteers to check in the athletes, help set up etc. Find more information and contact Cameron at: Venturafootballnetwork.com.

Next week we will have representatives from the Girl Scouts of California’s Central Coast, with whom we are partnering for the Beer, Wine, and Food Festival on June 8th. (Keep looking for sponsors to participate in that event. And tell your friends to save the date.) For next week, we’ll learn about the objectives of the Girl Scouts in the 21st Century; and the enduring tenets of this organization; also, there may be cookies….

There is still time to volunteer to set up breakfast or dinner at the Youth Empowerment Summit, YES!  Coming up this Saturday March 23rd.  Contact Mary at : linguamg@gmail.com to let her know if you would like to show up for a couple hours and witness the magic of Rotary and YES!

Thank you to all who attended the  District Assembly on Saturday, March 9th.  I hope you are inspired and gained insight into new ways of making our club even more exciting and effective.

This week Paul Alexander passed away after living in an Iron Lung for 72 years. He contracted polio in 1952 when he was 6 years old. In his memory and in dedication to complete eradication of this crippling disease, please consider joining the Polio Plus Society for $100 a year until Polio is history.  It’s easy to sign up on my.rotary.org or ask me for a contribution form.
