Welcome to March! We have so much happening this month. The Topa Topa St. Patrick’s Day Party to benefit the Ronald McDonald Family Room at VCMC is the signature event we are building up to. Sell tickets, spread the word, get your Irish green ready to rock to the Irish tunes while sipping an Irish brew.
Our program this week highlights the gem that Rotary has been polishing through the legacy of RYLA, by having a spinoff created that is a one day Youth Empowerment Summit. When you hear participants talk about how this one day has changed their lives, you will want to cheer them on and sign up as a counselor. Welcome to Mary Lingua who has spearheaded bringing YES to our county.
Next week Sonny Horses 4 Kids will be inspiring us with their equestrian therapy program enriching the lives of children and fostering trust with law enforcement.
We will celebrate the first day of Spring with our social on March 21. It will be another opportunity to have a beer, but probably a Modelo or Corona.
Cameron DeJong’s Football Showcase at Buena High is on Saturday, March 30th. He is looking for some volunteers to check in the athletes, help set up etc. so we will be circulating a sign up sheet for the next couple of weeks. More information is on the club website. If you know any soccer (football) enthusiasts that would like to sponsor some part of the event, Cameron’s contact information is there as well.
We will be closing out our March programs with a visit from the Girl Scouts of the Central Coast. Since we are partnering with them for our next fundraiser, the Beer, Wine, and Food Festival on June 8th, it’s a great time to learn more about their organization. And maybe they will bring a supply of Thin Mints.

In recognition that this is an election year and that there is divisiveness in our country and the world, I remind you that Rotary is a neutral zone. Thank you for respecting and enjoying the a-political aspect of our organization.
